About Us
Dr Christopher Geddes and Dr. Loanne Geddes have been the owners of Helensburgh Dental Centre since 2002. Dr Julia Hall joined us in 2013. We provide a wide range of general dental treatment. We are all particularly keen to make sure anyone who is anxious is put at ease. Being gentle is our main priority. We all have three young children so we understand the occasional stresses involved with looking after children so we have the patience to treat anyone who is anxious. We also enjoy having a conversation and a laugh with patients to make the appointment more relaxing. We will not rush anyone into treatment if they feel anxious and even recommend returning on another day if they are more comfortable to do that.
We are not a corporate owned practice therefore we have no financial goals and numbers to achieve. If our patients need any treatment we advise several options and we work together with the patient to finalise the best possible plan in the patients best interest. This does not have to be the most expensive option and no one is pressured to accept the more expensive options. In the patients best interest we will also not hesitate to recommend a specialist referral or even a second opinion from a specialist. We will not do treatment if specialist treatment is in the patients best interest.
While the majority of our patients are from our local area we have many patients from the Sutherland Shire, Thirroul and Wollongong. We have many patients who have moved homes to outer regional areas and even interstate who still return to us for their 6 monthly check ups. Our proudest moments are when our patients remark how gentle we are and recommend their family and friends to us. Our main goal is to achieve dental health in a gentle friendly manner in a cost effective way which suits the patient.
Our Team
Dr. Christopher Geddes
BDS(Syd), FRACDS, GCClindent (Adel)
Dr. Christopher Geddes graduated from the University of Sydney in 1997. He has completed examinations to gain Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and completed further postgraduate general dental studies to gain a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Dentistry from the University of Adelaide. After graduation he spent five years working at Westmead Dental Hospital where he spent time tutoring final year dental students and working in the Special Care Unit treating children and adults with special needs and disabilities. He is a member of the Seattle Study Club which is a small group of dental specialists and general dentists who meet on a monthly basis in Sydney. He is married to Dr. Loanne Geddes and has 3 young children.
Dr. Julia Hall
BDS(Wales)
Dr. Julia Hall graduated from the University of Wales in 1999. Julia worked full time in both Wales and England until the birth of her first child in 2005. In 2012, Julia moved with her husband and three children to the Illawarra and started working at the Helensburgh Dental Centre. She is a member of a study club which meets on a monthly basis in Wollongong.
Dr. Loanne Geddes
BDS (Syd)
Dr. Loanne Geddes graduated from the University Of Sydney in 1998. She is married to Dr Christopher Geddes. She worked full time in private practice in Sydney and joined Helensburgh Dental Centre in 2001 before taking over it in 2002. She currently spends most of her time looking after her three young children. She currently juggles working on a limited basis and attending dental seminars.
